The western half of the Long Moor is a nature reserve in the St. Jürgen district of the Lilienthal community in the Osterholz district .

General

The area was placed under nature protection by the former Lüneburg district government by ordinance of January 18, 1984 . It has an area of ​​approx. 11 hectares and bears the statistical code "NSG LÜ 92".

nature and landscape

This protected area forms the rest of the formerly extensive Long Moor near Worpswede . Part of the current protected area was also pitted . Due to the different and irregular peeling depths and boundaries as well as some areas that have not been peeled off, a very changeable small relief is present.

That is why one can find areas with growing raised bog vegetation as well as different stages of succession on raised bog degeneration areas. Substitute plant communities characterized by current and earlier agricultural use can also be found. The area is of great importance for endangered plant species.
