The Wiederau war memorial is enclosed with a wrought iron fence and is located directly next to the late medieval stone church of Wiederau in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . It is intended to commemorate the inhabitants of Wiederau, Bahnsdorf and Neudeck who died in the two world wars . On the upper, temple-like part of the memorial there are two panels with the names of the victims of the First World War from Wiederau, Bahnsdorf and Neudeck. On the front of the frustoconical base is a memorial plaque for the victims of the Second World War from Wiederau and Bahnsdorf. An eagle sits on the roof, wings spreading. The entire system was repaired in 2005 and the monument was renovated by the Schmerkendorf master painter Hans-Peter Schröter.
