The two-storey main wing of the renaissance castle was built in 1521 by a Herr von Brandenstein . Until 1615, the castle remained in the possession of the von Brandenstein family, who were one of the wealthiest families in the area in the Middle Ages , and then passed to the von Schleinitz family . In the middle of the 17th century a large stair tower was added and in 1687 it was sold to Johann Patow from Mallenchen . The building was given a baroque shape after renovation work in 1711.

In 1763 the castle came into the possession of Hartmann von Landwuest and went to a Herr von Trebra. Count Heinrich von Blumenthal bought the castle from him in 1819 for 19,000 thalers. After his death in 1830, the property came into civil hands. From 1904 to 1905 there was a comprehensive renovation by Viktor Lettre. The last owner before the end of the Second World War was the razor blade manufacturer Otto Roth.

After the war, Neudeck Castle housed a police school until 1999. In 2002 the castle was sold and then put up for lease by the buyer, but it was left to its own devices and fell into disrepair.

Against the background of this situation, the Friends' Association of Schloss Neudeck was founded , which managed to withdraw the failed privatization. In 2010 the association signed a leasing contract with the state of Brandenburg in order to be able to promote the revitalization of the castle. In August 2015, however, the country decided not to invest any funds in the castle. At the same time, due to the poor condition of the building, no further events should be allowed in Neudeck Castle. Under these circumstances, the friends' association saw no future for the castle and decided to liquidate it in March 2016. This also extends to the lease agreement with the state of Brandenburg. The consequence is the evacuation of the building. It should now be for sale again.

Elster Bridge

The listed three-arch concrete bridge from 1905 is located between Neudeck and Kleinrössen . The bridge is a monument to the early concrete construction from the turn of the century before last.

A sign on the bridge reports: "This bridge was saved from destruction in 1945 by a courageous act by farmer Otto Nicklisch."

The bridge could no longer be used from 1995 for safety reasons. A temporary steel bridge was built right next to it, which made it possible to cross the Black Elster. Since the renovation in 2018, the old arch bridge has been drivable again.

War memorials

The war memorial on Bahnsdorfer Berg is located north of Bahnsdorf on federal road 101 . The massive monument, designed with a cave-like interior and provided with inscriptions, was inaugurated in 1908. It is intended to commemorate the inhabitants of Neudeck, Bahnsdorf and Wiederau who fell in the wars of unification in 1864, 1866 and 1870/71 . The monument is now in great danger of collapsing.

Another war memorial for the fallen in these three places is located right next to the late medieval stone church in Wiederau. It is intended to commemorate the two world wars and was last renovated in 2005. See main article: Wiederau War Memorial
