history

Cathedral village around 1900

The place is mentioned for the first time as Domastorf in a document dated June 30, 1323. At that time the place was owned by Bodo von Ileburg . In 1589 Domsdorf had 23 hooves of around 20-25 hectares and was part of the Liebenwerda office . The place was heavily devastated in the Thirty Years War .

Because of the poor quality of the soil, only low to medium yields of grain , beets , potatoes and fodder could be achieved. The three-field economy ( summer fruit , winter fruit , fallow land ) was used until the first half of the 19th century. In the livestock industry, pigs, cattle and sheep were mainly kept as well as chickens, ducks and geese. There were only a few horses.

In 1815 Domsdorf became part of the Liebenwerda district , which was founded on the basis of the treaties of the Congress of Vienna .

Domsdorf never had its own church, the residents were parish in the neighboring towns of Beutersitz , Wildgrube , Winkel , Rothstein , Neumühl, Zinsdorf and Wahrenbrück . Since the Reformation the Protestant denomination has been predominant in the place.

In 1835 the village had 29 houses with 180 inhabitants. There were 46 horses, 176 cattle, 336 sheep and 39 pigs.

In the middle of 1875 the mining of lignite began in the region around Domsdorf with the Liebenwerda or Bismarck mine . This company was supposed to bring the coal by cable car from Domsdorf to Liebenwerda for briquetting , but this turned out to be uneconomical and was discontinued in 1907. From 1876 to 1918 coal was extracted from the Louise-Alwine mine . Other mines such as Therese , Bernhard Wilhelm , Wilhelmine , Michael , Paukisch , Maasdorf and Lubwart existed in the period from 1877 to 1906. In 1882 the briquette factory Louise opened , which was used for briquetting until 1991 and then converted into a technical museum.

In 1904/1905 the village street was built by the residents, and the place received its first aqueduct. The road was paved with granite stones, linden trees were planted and the village pond was filled.

After the construction of the turbine center of the briquette factory Louise in 1908, the electrification of Domsdorf began in 1911. The school was also built in 1911 with 2 classrooms and 2 teacher's apartments.

In 1913 the Peace Oak was planted in the center of the village. In 1921 a memorial for the men who fell in Domsdorf was erected from Swedish granite in World War I, and in 1992 it received an additional plaque for those who fell in World War II. Another memorial since 1985 has been commemorating the anti-fascist resistance fighter Max Borrack , who was executed in the Brandenburg prison on February 19, 1945 , and who was a social democrat member of the Saefkow- Jacob resistance group .

The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1925 . Due to the lowering of the groundwater in mining, the construction of a waterworks to supply drinking water became necessary in 1928 .

In 1960 the farms were transferred to a LPG Martin Andersen Nexö as part of the socialist transformation of agriculture .

In the twenties of the 20th century, the Domsdorf settlement was created in order to settle more families of miners. In 1972, a kindergarten was established in the village, which was shared with the Rothstein community and contained a community kitchen. In 1977 Domsdorf became a member of the Tröbitz community association, which should ensure better coordination in the expansion of the infrastructure.

After 1992 the sewage disposal and the telephone network were improved.
