Location of Marxdorf in Brandenburg

Marxdorf is a district of the city of Uebigau-Wahrenbrück in the Brandenburg district of Elbe-Elster and is located about nine kilometers northwest of the city of Bad Liebenwerda .

Local history

The place was first mentioned on August 9, 1251 under the name Marquartsdorf . Then the name changed via Marcgtorph (document from December 4, 1384) to Marxdorff (1505). In the 16th century, the owners of the village were, among others, the Heuna and Runge families .

In 1835 the village had 33 houses with 186 inhabitants. There were 40 horses, 209 cattle and 74 pigs.

Administrative affiliation

Marxdorf originally belonged to the Liebenwerda office , which was opened in the newly formed Liebenwerda district from 1816 . With the territorial reform carried out in the GDR in 1952, Marxdorf became part of the newly founded Bad Liebenwerda district .

After the fall of the Wall , Marxdorf was initially in the Bad Liebenwerda district. After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , the municipality of Marxdorf was assigned to the newly founded district of Elbe-Elster .

On September 27, 1998, Marxdorf was incorporated into the city of Wahrenbrück together with the communities of Beiersdorf , Beutersitz , Bönitz , Domsdorf , Kauxdorf , Prestewitz , Rothstein , Saxdorf , Wildgrube and Winkel . On December 31, 2001, Wahrenbrück and the city of Uebigau were merged with the communities of Bahnsdorf , Drasdo and Wiederau .
