Chronological dates

The place with 24 inhabitants was first mentioned in 1445 as Monchin . In 1672 it was mentioned as Munich .

In 1590 the place had five possessed men who lived partly on fishing.

In 1835 the village had seven houses with 45 inhabitants. Eleven horses, 54 cattle and 23 pigs were counted as cattle.

Munich was incorporated into the neighboring city of Uebigau on January 1, 1960 . Markus Münzer is currently head of the village.

Culture and sights

Every year at the beginning of October an Oktoberfest takes place in this place. Several thousand visitors took part in 2005, some of them wearing dirndls or lederhosen.
