Old maps from 1753 and 1781 show a windmill in Saxdorf, which, however, can no longer be proven for a period of over a century. Two windmills can be identified for the period after 1900.

Culture and sights

The brick building of the Saxdorf village church was probably built around 1230. Restoration work took place in it in the 1970s and 80s. Frescoes on the north wall and remains of ornamental paintings in the apse were uncovered. The church has been the focus of many cultural events for decades. Concerts are held here regularly as part of the “Saxdorf Music Summer”.

In the immediate vicinity of the church is the Saxdorf parish garden with native and foreign plants, bushes and trees. The gardens, designed by the artist Hanspeter Bethke , were voted one of the most beautiful gardens in the Berlin-Brandenburg region by viewers of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) in 2013.

Also next to the church is a 78 × 92 × 31 cm stone cross . Its original location was on the outskirts in the direction of Kauxdorf. It was converted to the current location in 1980. Another stone cross was originally on the road to Koßdorf at kilometer 5.4.
