Kleinrössen is a district of the town of Falkenberg / Elster in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg and is located about nine kilometers northeast of the core town on the L673 state road on the left side of the Black Elster . The “Schweinert” nature reserve and the “Elsteraue” nature reserve are in the immediate vicinity of the district.

history

Kleinrössen was first mentioned in a document in 1419 as "Cleynen Rösen".

Since the church in neighboring Großrössen, built around 1500, was a subsidiary church of the parish church in Kleinrössen, it is assumed that Kleinrössen was probably the more important place at the time when both villages were formed. The historical development of the two places is closely linked.

In 1520 Kleinrössen belonged to the office of Schlieben and had 24 hofners and 4 gardeners (for comparison: Großrössen 4 hofners, 6 gardeners). In 1672 there are only 1 Halbhüfner and 2 Kossaten left in Kleinrössen , "the other 7 Kossaten are deserted ".

The manor owner Rittmeister de Lettre, to whom the manor in Neudeck also belonged in the mid-19th century , had the bridge over the Black Elster built in 1905, which is now a listed building. The areas of the manor in Großrössen (Dorfstrasse 1) were divided up among 30 resettlers and farm workers as part of the land reform that began in 1945 .

On March 22, 1970, Kleinrössen was incorporated into Großrössen, and on December 31, 2001, the two places were incorporated into Falkenberg / Elster together with Beyern , Kölsa and Rehfeld .

Administrative affiliation

Kleinrössen belonged to the Saxon office of Schweinitz until 1815 and then became part of the Schweinitz district . From 1952 the place belonged to the district of Herzberg , which then became part of the district of Elbe-Elster in 1993 .

Mild tourism

Nature Conservation Center Kleinrössen

The Kleinrössen nature conservation center has been located in the village in a farm built around 1900 since 1994. A supraregional gentle tourism has developed here, which concentrates on the nature reserve "Schweinert" with the barrow field "Schweinert" , which is located directly at the facility, and on the landscape reserve "Elsteraue" between Uebigau and Herzberg. Family Sundays take place in the nature conservation center in the summer months, which are combined with small concerts and singing events in the Kleinrössen village church. In addition, guided tours are offered through the herb and farm garden as well as a nature trail created in “Schweinert”.

The 100-kilometer Black Elster Cycle Path also leads through Kleinrössen .

Attractions

One of the largest burial mounds in Central Europe from the Bronze Age is located in the “Schweinert” nature reserve to the south of the district . Here, after the Battle of Mühlberg in April 1547, the Saxon Elector Johann Friedrich I was captured by troops of the army of Emperor Charles V , as a result of which the Schmalkaldic War ended with the Wittenberg surrender .

The Kleinrössen village church is on the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.

A three-arched bridge over the Black Elster is also under monument protection . The monument from 1905 is located between Kleinrössen and Neudeck and is a testimony to the early concrete construction at the turn of the century before last. A sign on the bridge reports: "This bridge was saved from destruction in 1945 by a courageous act by farmer Otto Nicklisch."
