Kleinrössen village church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church of Kleinrössen is a listed church building in the Kleinrössen district of the small town of Falkenberg / Elster in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg .

The half-timbered building , built towards the end of the 18th century , is surrounded by the local cemetery . In the immediate vicinity is the former rectory, which is now also a listed building.

Building description and history

The village church of Kleinrössen is a half-timbered brick building with a three-sided east end, built towards the end of the 18th century, instead of a previous building built in 1691 according to plans by Conrad von Klengels. On the roofs of the nave are bat dormers to see. In the west of the ship there is a retracted west tower with a square floor plan, the two upper floors of which have been boarded up. It was provided with a tent roof and a lantern above it , which was also kept square. The tower is crowned by a weather vane.

Inside the church there is a flat wooden ceiling and a brick floor. Galleries are built into the west and south, with a swinging organ gallery adjoining the southern gallery in the east . This gallery was probably built in 1893.

In the same year, the Kleinrössen church also received an organ, which was created by the Eilenburg organ builder Conrad Geißler (1825-1897) as opus 112. It has a mechanical sliding drawer , five stops on a manual and pedal.

The disposition is as follows:

I Manual C – f 3
Principal 8th'
Dumped 8th'
Octave 4 ′
flute 4 ′
Pedal C – d 1
Sub bass 16 ′

Other pieces of the building are a wooden pulpit polygonal basket, a altarpiece in the middle of a painting depicting the crucified Christ can be seen and a baptismal font made of sandstone (all late 18th century).

The roof of the Kleinrössen village church was repaired in 2013 with the help of funds from the German Foundation for Monument Protection .
