history
Mallenchen was first mentioned in 1527. Due to the late transmission of the name, no reliable name interpretation is possible. A derivation from the Lower Sorbian word maly for small is possible . This refers to the numerous small lakes that were in the area. The current Sorbian place name Jarzorce is a diminutive of the word Jazor for lake . This word is based on the name of the neighboring place (Groß) Jehser in Jazory . In contrast to this, the name Klein Jehser Malke Jazorce or Malenke Jazorce was formed. This gave rise to the German variant of the name Mellenichen in 1587 and Mallenichen in the 18th century. In the years 1761 and 1880 the Lower Sorbian place names Jazorze and Jazorcy were used. The name Klein Jehser thus became Mallenchen . Ernst Eichler rules out a relationship with the Sorbian word Malina for raspberry bush .
From 1682 to 1945 the village was owned by the von Patow family. After the Congress of Vienna , Mallenchen came to the Kingdom of Prussia with all of Lower Lusatia and belonged to the Calau district . Mallenchen was incorporated into Gliechow on July 1, 1950 . Thereafter, the place belonged to the newly founded district of Calau in 1952 . Gliechow and Mallenchen were incorporated into Groß Jehser on May 1, 1974. Gliechow was amended by 1978/1979 opencast Schlabendorf South devastated . The place belongs to the church district Niederlausitz . On December 31, 2001, Groß Jehser with Mallenchen and the towns of Buckow , Gollmitz , Craupe and Zinnitz were incorporated into the town of Calau.
