Buckow , Bukow in Lower Sorbian , is a district of the city of Calau in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg .

geography

Buckow is located in Niederlausitz in the Niederlausitzer Landücken nature park . To the north of the village is the former Seese-West opencast mine , through which the former Seese village was excavated . To the northeast lies Mlode . The city of Calau joins in the southeast. Säritz is located south of Buckow . In the west the place borders on Erpitz and Groß Jehser .

history

Village church

The name Buckow is derived from the Sorbian word buk for beech . Buckow belonged to the lordship of Lübbenau , the Count of Lynar .

Administratively, the place belonged to the district of Calau . On December 31, 2001 Buckow was incorporated into the city of Calau together with Gollmitz , Craupe , Groß Jehser and Zinnitz .
