history
Local history
Archaeological finds have shown that the Bolschwitz district was already settled in the Neolithic . The village itself was probably created as a German settlement in the form of a dead end village in the course of the German expansion to the east . The width of the village is a turn, this corresponds to 257.4 meters. The first written mention comes from the year 1432. The place name derives from the Sorbian name Boles, a nickname of Boleslaw . In the Lübbenauer Schöffenbuch the place is called Bolßewycz in 1520 . The inhabitants lived as farmers by growing fields and fruit.
The owners of the manor in the 18th century included the Counts of Stutterheim , who owned Ogrosen and Bolschwitz. From 1800 to 1842 Heinrich Ludwig Graf zu Lynar was the owner of the place and then Jacques Alfred Graf von Pourtalès . Later the Lüdeke family on Ogrosen sold the estate to Ilse Bergbau AG -Wohlfahrtsgesellschaft.
Bolschwitz was parish church after Calau. A legend tells about a planned church building in Bolschwitz that the devil is said to have brought the field stones that were driven into for the Bolschwitz church to the neighboring town of Gahlen in one night.
The Erlenau district was created in 1848 as a Vorwerk and was used as an estate. Administratively, Bolschwitz belonged to the district of Calau .
On October 26, 2003, Bolschwitz was incorporated into Calau with Groß Mehßow , Kemmen , Mlode, Saßleben and Werchow .
