history
Local history
Repten was first mentioned in 1377 as Reppen . The name developed via Reppin (1484) and Repen (1527). The village belonged to Gut Repten and was laid out as a Gutsweiler in dead ends. To the north of the place was a Slavic rampart. The village was shaped by Sorbs. In 1818 a winegrower's house, a brickworks, a sheep farm and a water mill were mentioned. After the Congress of Vienna Repten came with the entire Lower Lusatia to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the district of Calau .
The predominantly Sorbian / Wendish village was rapidly Germanized from the end of the 18th century. A school revision of 1797 states that “the children, who were Wenden a few years ago, have now all been converted into Germans […]. This is done by the excellent catechist, who cannot turn. ”German teachers were preferred in Sorbian places. Around 1850 only a quarter of the population spoke Sorbian. On January 1, 1925, Lobendorf was incorporated into Repten.
After the Second World War, Repten belonged to the Calau district, which was newly founded in 1952 . On December 31, 2001 it was incorporated into Vetschau with the towns of Naundorf , Göritz and Stradow .
