Village green in Fleißdorf

Fleißdorf , until 1937 Dlugy , Długi in Lower Sorbian , is a village on the edge of the Spreewald . It belongs to the Vetschau district of Naundorf .

The village is located a little east of the country road that connects Suschow with Naundorf, which is also used by the Gurken Cycle Path . It is located north of Vetschau in the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve . To the west is the meadow pond .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1520. The initially purely Sorbian town had a joint school with Naundorf, which has been mentioned since 1850. The school was halfway between the villages. Until October 29, 1937 the village was called Dlugy and was then renamed "Fleißdorf" in the course of the National Socialist Germanization of Sorbian place names . In several other places in the region, names of Sorbian origin were exchanged for German names during this time, but elsewhere they were mostly renamed back after the war.

The former place name Dlugy goes back to the Sorbian dłujki and means "long (stretched)".

On January 1, 1974, Fleißdorf was incorporated into Naundorf. Together with Naundorf, the incorporation to Vetschau took place on December 31, 2001.
