The meadow pond is to the east of the village . The road from Vetschau to Raddusch and the Gurkenradweg lead through Stradow . The village is laid out in the form of a row village. Originally the street leading to Stradow ended here as a dead end.

history

The earliest traces of settlement go back to the Bronze Age . Around the year 800, a Slavic rampart was built in what is now Stradow, which served as a refuge in times of armed conflict. The rampart was roughly in the area of today's manor park. The first documentary mention, however, comes from the year 1355 and was in connection with a border determination towards Lübbenau / Spreewald . Also mentioned in a document is the award of 6 Hufen Land in Stradow to Hans von Zabelwitz by Margrave Friedrich in 1450.

Around 1800, a long house was built in the village for farm workers. In 1878 a school was founded in the village. In 1880, tunnel riding was introduced in the village and in 1884 the local men's choir was founded. The manor house that still exists today was built in 1886.

In 1888 a large fire ravaged the place. The Stradower Ponds, which today make the place known nationwide, were created around the turn of the 20th century. In 1904 the community built a new schoolhouse. The connection of Stradow to the network for electricity took place only in 1920. The connection to the central drinking water supply took longer. The last households were not connected until 1986.

The local volunteer fire department was founded in 1927. In the course of the reorganization of agriculture in the time of the GDR , the LPG Spreeaue was established in Stradow in 1958 . The shooting club was formed in 1990. In 1997 the so-called forest settlement An der Schäferei was completed.

On December 31, 2001 Stradow was incorporated into Vetschau.
