Ogrosen , Hogrozna in Lower Sorbian , is a small village in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in the south of the state of Brandenburg (Germany) with 270 inhabitants. Ogrosen is part of the town of Vetschau / Spreewald and is in the traditional settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends .

Ogrosen is located on the southern edge of the Spreewald, southeast of the former district town of Calau and south of the small town of Vetschau / Spreewald.
history
Local history
The old street village was first mentioned in a document in 1346 in the official church directory as Ogroze . The name was mentioned in 1449 as zcu Ogrosen and in 1570 as Oggroß . The Lower Sorbian name variant was mentioned in 1761 as Hogrzna and in 1843 in the same form and as Ogrozna . The Sorbian name for Ogrosen - Hogrozua - is the Old Sorbian name for a hill, a fence with a braided fence.
The tower of the village church dates from the middle of the 13th century. An early German defense system was built in Ogrosen as early as the 10th century.
On December 31, 2002, Ogrosen and Suschow were incorporated into Vetschau.

Culture and sights
The village has a church, a large park and numerous ponds. There is also an estate in Ogrosen with associated stables and barns, which are still managed today. Both the church and the estate are among the architectural monuments of the city of Vetschau . Next to the church is a war memorial for those who fell in the First World War.
The German painter David Lorenz was born in Ogrosen.
Economy and Infrastructure
Agriculture characterizes the district, especially direct marketing and organic farming. The two wind turbines that can be seen from afar are distinctive for Ogrosen.
