Erlenau is located in Niederlausitz in the official settlement area of ​​the Sorbs / Wends . history

The village of Erlenau was created in 1848 as a Vorwerk of Bolschwitz.

Erlenau has always been in the Kingdom of Prussia , where the place belonged to the district of Calau . On July 25, 1952, Bolschwitz came with Erlenau to the Calau district and after the reunification was in the Calau district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Bolschwitz and Erlenau were assigned to the newly formed district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz . Bolschwitz was incorporated into the city of Calau on October 26, 2003 together with the other previously independent communities of Groß Mehßow , Kemmen , Mlode , Saßleben and Werchow .
