Säritz , Zarěc in Lower Sorbian , is part of the municipality of Kemmen , which is part of the town of Calau in the northern part of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg .

location

Säritz is located in Niederlausitz in the Niederlausitzer Landücken nature park on the Kleptna . The town of Calau is to the east of Säritz. The Werchow district of Calau follows to the southeast . To the south follow Kemmen and the Kemmen part of the municipality Schadewitz . To the west of Säritz is the district of Groß Mehßow with Klein Mehßow . In the northwest, Säritz borders on Mallenchen and Erpitz . Buckow and Mlode follow in the north and northeast .

history

Local history

Säritz was first mentioned in 1461. The name refers to a place behind a stream, in this case the Kleptna. Za means hinter and Rěka Bach in Lower Sorbian . In 1463 he was named as Seritz and in 1554 as Serytz . In 1843 the Sorbian form of the name Zarjec and Zarěc was used. Since 1635 the place was subordinate to the Saxon bailiwick as an official village.

As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Säritz came to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the district of Calau . After the Second World War, Säritz belonged to the Calau district, which was newly founded in 1952, and was incorporated into Kemmen on May 1, 1974. The place belongs to the church district Niederlausitz . On October 26, 2003, Kemmen was incorporated into the town of Calau with Säritz and the towns of Mlode , Groß Mehßow , Saßleben , Bolschwitz and Werchow .
