Germania figure in Eltville

The listed war memorial in Eltville am Rhein stands on the square of Montrichard and is dedicated to the German participants in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71.

Erected as a statue of Germania in opulent historicist forms typical of the time, the monument was inaugurated on July 23, 1882. The 3.50 m high figure was made from a sandstone-like clay mass according to plans by the sculptor Alexander Calandrelli . It stands on a main stone with four side plates bearing the names of the fallen.
