The war cemetery bomb victims Hamburg-Ohlsdorf is located within the Ohlsdorf cemetery , which is in the Ohlsdorf district of the city of Hamburg in Germany. The collective grave for bomb victims with a memorial is located near the eastern entrance to the cemetery ( Bramfeld, Bramfelder Chaussee ) near chapel 13. The individual bomb victim grave is located near chapel 10. It was made by the mayor in a state act in 1952 Max Brauer inaugurated. The mayor recalled that the German attacks on Guernica , Warsaw , Rotterdam and Coventry took place off Hamburg . He also points to the victims before 1943, namely the Jewish Hamburgers who were evicted and the many who were ostracized.

The strongest bombing of the city of Hamburg in World War II was caused by six attacks by British and US bombers from July 25 to August 3, 1943 .

The individual grave field ( location ) for the victims of the bombings from 1940 to 1945 is marked by a large crown of thorns on a base. 2,282 victims rest here. The graves can be identified by name by lying stones. There is a list of victims.

36,918 victims rest in collective graves here ( Lage ). Many corpses were brought to the Ohlsdorf cemetery by truck without being identified. Eighty prisoners from the Süderstrasse concentration camp buried the bodies. The four arms of the grave field are arranged in the shape of a cross. The names of the twenty Hamburg districts from which the victims come are listed on large oak beams on the burial grounds. There is a list of identified victims. In the center of the grave complex is a cube, inside of which the relief "Drive over the Styx" by Gerhard Marcks demonstrates the fate of the dead.
