Kim Bong-soo ( kor. 김봉수 ; born November 30, 1962 in Seoul ) is a former South Korean tennis player .

Career

Kim Bong-soo was able to win a title on the ATP Challenger Tour in his career . In 1989 he prevailed in the individual competition in Beijing . A year earlier he made his only appearance at a Grand Slam tournament when he was eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open . He was defeated by the Indian Ramesh Krishnan with 3: 6, 6: 3, 4: 6, 6: 4 and 4: 6.

He took part in the 1988 Olympic Games in his native Seoul . After he won in five sets in the opening round of the individual competition against George Kalovelonis , he then met the fourth-placed French Henri Leconte . He surprisingly defeated them 4: 6, 7: 5, 6: 3, 3: 6 and 7: 5. In the round of 16 he had to admit defeat to the Argentine Martín Jaite in three sets. In the doubles competition , he was eliminated together with Yoo Jin-sun in the first round. He and Yoo were defeated by the Indians Anand and Vijay Amritraj in three sentences.

Kim Bong-soo played a total of 14 games for the South Korean Davis Cup team between 1984 and 1990 . Both his individual balance of 13: 8 and his double balance of 5: 1 are positive. Together with Yoo Jin-sun, he is the most successful double in the history of the South Korean Davis Cup.

Kim Bong-soo has been married to Kim Eun-hee since February 24, 1990.
