War Merit Medal 1916–1918

The War Merit Medal 1916–1918 was donated on November 21, 1916 by Grand Duke Friedrich August II of Oldenburg for girls from the age of 15 and women who had been active in the care of the wounded within the Grand Duchy for at least one year. From May 9, 1917, the medal could also be awarded to women and men who had distinguished themselves in the field of the war economy. Exceptions were people who had already been awarded the Iron Cross II. Class or the Friedrich August Cross II. Class.
