Kristóf Nyíri

Kristóf [JC] Nyíri (* 1944 ) is a Hungarian philosopher , professor at the Institute of Technical Pedagogy of the Technical and Economic University of Budapest , member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences . He was Leibniz Professor at the University of Leipzig in the 2006/07 winter semester. Research focus: Wittgenstein, philosophy of communication, philosophy of the image, philosophy of time.

Nyíri studied philosophy and mathematics at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest , where he was a professor from 1987 to 2004. From 1993 to 1998 he was President of the Hungarian Society of Philosophy, 1995 to 2005 Director of the Research Institute for Philosophy of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
