Kristina Calvert

Kristina Calvert (* 1961 ) is a German pedagogue of philosophizing with children .

Life

Calvert has a PhD in education. Since 2006, she has been a lecturer at the University of Hamburg in the research project “Philosophizing with Children about Living Nature (PhiNa)”, which is supported by the Körber Foundation .

Philosophizing about scientific subjects gives children the opportunity to cross the boundaries between philosophy and biology, between belief and scientific knowledge, and between mechanistic and metaphysical explanations of the world.

Her book Wolkenbilder + Möwendreck was awarded Book of the Month for May 2011 by the German Academy for Children's and Young Adult Literature .

Calvert has twin girls and lives in Hamburg .
