The Kronenbrauerei was a brewery in Büderich (Wesel) in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

In order to finance the expansion of the fortifications, Count Adolf I von Kleve gave the Büdericher an eternal right in 1388 to brew beer in the city, to tap beer and to levy taxes on it ( “End soe wat dan affkoempt soelen sy by onsen rade vertymmeren aen veringe ons (er) stat van Boederich ” ).

The Kronenbrauerei was probably founded in 1392 before it came into the possession of the Hardering family in 1672. After the fall of the old town of Büderich, Franz Langenberg d. Ä. According to plans by Otto von Gloeden between 1815 and 1818 in Neu-Büderich next to residential houses for the brewery owner Hardering a new brewery building. Peter Theodor Langenberg , son of the master mason Franz Langenberg the Elder. Ä. and brother-in-law of the brewery owner Friedrich Hardering, modernized the brewery. Friederich Hardering died on August 13, 1871. His widow had the brewery expanded in 1877 under the supervision of the district architect Bernhard Radhoff .

The name of the brewery has changed several times over the years. From 1813 to 1913 it was called the Kronenbrauerei Wenzeslaus Hardering , from 1913 to its closure in 1981 it was called the Kronenbrauerei Gebrüder Hardering , whereby the legal form was changed to OHG in 1975 and to GmbH & Co. KG in 1981 . The brewery's coat of arms showed three crowns.

The buildings of the former brewery are now used for residential purposes. The street names Brauerstraße and Am Sudturm are reminiscent of the brewing tradition that is continued on Perricher Weg by the Walter Bräu house brewery .

In addition to Pils and Alt , the Kronenbrauerei Hardering also produced export , malt beer and Maibock .
