The Krottenbach is a brook in the Vienna district of Döbling . Its source is on the border with Lower Austria near Neustift am Walde . 1893 by the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Tulln the water rights permit for vaulting the Krottenbaches issued by the City of Vienna. The lower course has been vaulted since 1889, the upper course since 1910/1911.

The most important feeder of the Krottenbach is the Arbesbach coming from Sievering .

In the course of time, the previously open-flowing, seven-kilometer-long Krottenbach with a catchment area of around eleven square kilometers was built up and dried up to a few cm³ per year. The remains can still be seen as a pond in Wiener Wertheimsteinpark , Heiligenstädterstrasse. The stream is discharged into the right main collecting sewer of the Vienna sewer system.

The disappearance of the stream, which was spanned by numerous bridges, partially completely changed the appearance of the place in the affected areas.

Originally the Krottenbach, which took up the water from the springs on the south side of the Dreimarkstein in the Salmannsdorf area and the Michaelerberg in Neustift am Walde, formed the border between Ober- and Unterdöbling.
