Krugersdorp Game Reserve

The Krugersdorp Game Reserve ( Afrikaans : Krugersdorp Wildtuin ) is a 1500 hectare game reserve in Krugersdorp , Gauteng ( South Africa ). It is about 30 kilometers west of Johannesburg .

The reserve is partly on an old mining site. The landscape here consists primarily of grassland with shrubs and small forests. In the north of the reserve there are small ponds with reeds. 30 species of mammals live on the site , including four of the so-called " Big Five ". However, the lions live in a separate 100 hectare enclosure that can be accessed by car. You can also see giraffes , zebras , springboks and oryx antelopes here . The accessible aviary is located in an old quarry and is home to weaver birds , among other things .

You can explore the reserve with your own car. All roads are paved. But horse safaris are also offered. There is a campsite and a lodge on the premises.
