Krugmann houses
The Krugmann houses (Crimea) are a group of listed secular buildings in Crimea 1, 2 and 3 in Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The ensemble was entered in the list of monuments in 1986 under serial number 22.
History and architecture
The group of plastered houses in neoclassical forms was built in 1913, after a city fire, under the direction of the government master builder Konrad Hildebrand from Dillenburg. The builder was August Krugmann.
The main building Krim 1 is emphasized by a mansard roof with wide gables on the eaves and a portico on the garden side . House Krim 2 (office building) is a two-storey, three-axis, half-hip gable house with a column portal . This building was originally a restaurant. The previous building had large stables, because many wagoners stayed overnight in the restaurant who carried coal with horse-drawn vehicles to Frankfurt am Main and southern Germany before the railroad brought this industry to a standstill. The adjoining buildings, distillery and warehouse (Rechtsstrasse 1–3) were built from brick in 1867, soon after the Krugmann company was founded . However, these are not under monument protection. Building Krim 3 (residential building) is a two-storey, three-axis hipped eaves house. It's slated on the gable. Around 1900 the merchant Levy Stern ran a manufacture and fabric shop there. Later Peter Friedrich Krugmann bought the house.
