Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar

Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar (born September 5, 1924 in Lviv ; † September 26, 2008 in Krakow ) was a Polish composer and music teacher.

Moszumańska-Nazar came to Krakow with her family in 1945. Here she studied piano with Jan Hoffman and composition with Stanisław Wiechowicz at the State Music Academy until 1955 . From 1963 she taught composition, instrumentation, counterpoint and contemporary composition techniques at the Kraków Music Academy . 1974–75 she led a composition class. Until 1979 she was Dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory, and from 1987 to 1993 director of the Academy.

In 1954 Moszumańska-Nazar was the winner of the Young Composers' Competition of the Polish Composers Union. She also received first prizes at the international female composers' competitions in Mannheim in 1961 and in Buenos Aires in 1963, and second at the Karol Szymanowski Competition in 1974.
