Krzysztof Jasiewicz (* 1952 ) is a Polish historian and political scientist and a member of the Institute for Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences ( Instytut Studiów Politycznych PAN ).

Jasiewicz received his PhD in political science in 1998. He completed his habilitation and received the title of professor in 2005 .

research

In his research, Jasiewicz deals primarily with the history of the Polish eastern territories that came under Soviet rule , including the fate of the Polish nobility, the Soviet power structures, and also with the history of Eastern Judaism and Polish-Jewish relations from 1939 to 1939 1941. Jasiewicz has numerous publications in these areas.

Jasiewicz was the creator of the ISP and also acts as the editor of the Seria Wschodnia . He also initiated the Biblioteka Ziem Wschodnich series . Most recently, Jasiewicz was chairman of the research group Problems in the East at the ISP. Jasiewicz is a member of the PEN Club and also the editorial team of the “Studia Polityczne”. In 1995 Jasiewicz received the Ksawery Pruszyński Prize (Polish PEN Club Prize).

In May 2013 Jasiewicz was dismissed as the ISP chairman of his research group because of statements in an interview with Focus magazine that were criticized as anti-Semitic. According to Jasiewicz, the accusation of anti-Semitism directed against him is a manipulation of the Jewish community and the philosemites - the title of the interview, The Jews are their own fault? , don't come from him and be outrageous.

In addition to his scientific writings, Jasiewicz also wrote fiction, including the novels Siódmy sen (The Seventh Dream), Zapach Afrodyty (The Scent of Aphrodite) under the pseudonym Chuck Andy Norton and Egzekucja (Execution) under the pseudonym Christopher Jasiewitz.
