history
The ktpBKK emerged from a merger (on January 1, 2004) of BKK Krupp Thyssen Partner and KarstadtQuelle BKK .
The BKK Krupp Thyssen Partner (from which the ktp in the name comes from) has its roots in the "Aid health insurance fund in cases of illness and death of the Krupp cast steel factory" founded by Alfred Krupp in Essen in 1836. According to the ktpBKK, its statutes were the model for Bismarck's social legislation of 1883.
The KarstadtQuelle BKK is rooted in the "Company Health Insurance Fund of Rudolph Karstadt GmbH" founded in 1912.
On April 1, 2010, the ktpBKK merged with the Novitas BKK .
ktpBKK Solidarity Prize / Essen Solidarity Prize of Novitas BKK
Since 2006, the ktpBKK has awarded the ktpBKK solidarity prize, endowed with 2,500 euros, annually in November, which honors exemplary behavior in solidarity. Since 2010 it has been called the "Essen Solidarity Prize of Novitas BKK".
Previous winners were:
- 2006: AWO day care center Levinstrasse in Essen-Dellwig for special support for children from socially disadvantaged families
- 2007: Samaritans at the Ruhr Foundation for the organization of first aid courses in schools and the establishment of a school medical service
- 2008: The Essen-Steele Hospice as one of the pioneers of the hospice movement
- 2009: The moth counseling center in Essen
- 2010: The disabled dance group Flotte Socken eV
- 2011: The Fürstin-Franziska-Christine-Stiftung for their youth welfare
- 2012: Ulrich Boltz (BDO e.V.) for his long-term commitment to organ transplant recipients
