Bird paradise Kuşcenneti

The Kuşcenneti National Park (German "Vogelparadies", Turkish Kuşcenneti Millî Parkı ) is a Turkish national park .

It is located 20 km southwest of Bandırma and 50 km north of Balıkesir . The nature reserve is located on Lake Manyas and covers an area of about 64 hectares. In 1938, the German professor Curt Kosswig , a zoologist and water economist from the University of Istanbul , researched the area. In the summer, 3 million birds of 239 different species, such as pelicans , wild ducks , storks , cormorants , nightingales and pheasants , inhabit the park. There are ideal nest-building conditions for the numerous bird species, as the water level of Lake Manyas is constantly changing. This bird diversity is of particular international importance for ornithology , which is why the park received the European Class A certificate. For visitors to the park there is a museum and an observation tower for information.
