Kuchenreuth

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kuchenreuth is a district of the city of Kemnath in the northern Upper Palatinate with 41 inhabitants. Until 1945 it belonged to the independent community of Fortschau.

history

The exact founding time of Kuchenreuth lies in the darkness of history. However, excavations on the Schrollenbühl prove that there was already around 5000 BC. Chr. Hunters and gatherers were traveling. Evidence of this time can be viewed in the local history museum in the Alte Fronveste in Kemnath. The first two courtyards were the Spitalhof (Hofmann estate) and the Angerhof (Schmidt estate).

In 1945 or 1946 Fortschau was incorporated into the town of Kemnath with Kuchenreuth.

geography

Kuchenreuth is located on the border between the so-called Bruchschollenzone and the basement (nature parks Fichtelgebirge and Steinwald ). Extinct volcanic chimneys such as the Armesberg or the Rauhe Kulm shape the landscape. Kuchenreuth is surrounded by fields and meadows that have their own field names. In the south are the Schrollenbühl, Pfaffental and Rusel, in the north the Große Leite, in the west the Birkwiese and the Hallawa. Kuchenreuth is located in the south of Kemnath .

Wood oven

In 2010, the Kuchenreuth village community built a wood-burning oven in the middle of the village center. Since then it has been used again and again, also at festivities or after trips to various clubs and organizations such as the kindergarten.

Fatima Chapel

The Fatima Chapel was built by the villagers between 1947 and 1949 at the suggestion of the clergy, Georg Pilz, and has been the center of the village ever since. At the same place there was a stone grotto built by Johann Weigl at the turn of the century. In 1948 Johann Sertl donated a bell for the chapel. The price at that time was 480 DM. Despite all the difficulties caused by the post-war period and the currency reform in 1948, the chapel building was completed under the direction of master builder Josef Steiner, Ziegelhütte, in time for the inauguration in July 1949.

In the past four decades, the chapel had been damaged and leaked, so that renovation was necessary. The voluntary fire brigade Fortschau-Kuchenreuth celebrates the chapel festival annually at the Fatima chapel on the village square.

societies

  • Volunteer firefighter

In addition to fire protection, the Fortschau-Kuchenreuth volunteer fire brigade is the only association in the village to make a major contribution to social life. In addition to the annual collection of Christmas trees on behalf of the city of Kemnath, the Christmas tree auction, the maypole erection and the chapel festival, the so-called Kuchenreuther Häusl also contributes to camaraderie and sociability.

Others

The name of the famous Regensburg gunmaker dynasty, the Kuchenreuter, is derived from the town of Kuchenreuth .
