Lists on the subject |
The Kudi-Tranchang is a cutting sword that was used as a weapon and tool in Malaysia and Java .
history
Developed by the tribes of Malaysia and Java, who ascribed magical powers to it, the kudi tranchang served both as a tool for wood carvers and as a weapon of war. Accordingly, there are so many versions that it can be difficult to classify them.
description
The blade of the Kudi-Tranchang often resembles a stylized bird's head, but among the many different shapes of the sword there are also butterfly-like blades. The blade described here as an example is the booklet for something more from (handle) on straight and bends than half down to where it narrows and tapers in a kind of bird's beak pointed. A spur protrudes from the blade on the upper side, which is curved and does not turn back sharply towards the blade (see picture). Small holes are made below and on top of this spur for decoration. The handle of the Kudi-Tranchang consists mostly of wood and is decorated with carvings; the scabbards are also mostly made of the wood of the kajo tree and are often decorated. The Kudi Tranchang were valued weapons because of their magical powers, in the belief of the Indonesians.
