The Kugelblaualge ( chroococcus turgidus ) is a type of cyanobacteria or "blue algae". The species is widespread in planktonic and marine habitats , but also occurs terrestrially, e.g. B. in mosses. A similar species is the pond blue alga, Chroococcus limneticus .

features

The cells are blue-green. They lie individually or in small groups (two to four cells, rarely more) in a gelatinous envelope.
