Kuhlenhagen (Elbe)

The Kuhlenhagen is a lake in the Kreuzhorst southeast of Magdeburg .

The elongated, sickle-shaped curved lake is part of an old arm of the Elbe , which runs only a few hundred meters to the west. The length of the lake is about 700 meters, the maximum width about 50 meters. Since the Kuhlenhagen is located on the river-facing side of the Elbe dike to the east, it is flooded when the Elbe floods.

South of Kuhlenhagen is the Steinföhr lake , which belongs to the Randau-Calenberge district. North is the monk lakes and Mönchssgraben , via the dehydration in the same.

The Kulenhagen estate was located on the northwestern shore of the lake until the second half of the 19th century .
