Kuivaniemi [ kui̯vɑniɛmi ] is a place in the northern Finnish countryside Northern Ostrobothnia , which until 2007 a separate parish showed. In early 2007, it merged with the neighboring community Ii to form the community Ii.

Kuivaniemi is located at the mouth of the Kuivajoki River in the Gulf of Bothnia . The local church, built between 1871 and 1874, was built according to plans by the German architect Ernst Bernhard Lohrmann, a student of Carl Ludwig Engels .

The community Kuivaniemi existed as an independent political unit since 1867, had an area of 960.7 km² and last around 2000 inhabitants. In addition to the parish village of Kuivaniemi, the parish also included Myllykangas and Oijärvi. State road 4 and the Oulu - Tornio railway line run parallel to the coast through Kuivaniemi. On September 1, 2006, however, passenger traffic was completely discontinued due to the low number of passengers; since there are no facilities for freight traffic, this meant the final closure of the station.

The writer Antti Hyry (1931–2016) was born in Kuivaniemi .
