Antti Kalevi Hyry ( October 20, 1931 in Kuivaniemi , Northern Ostrobothnia - June 4, 2016 in Espoo ) was a Finnish writer .

Hyry was born in Northern Finland in 1931. After studying engineering , he began publishing stories and novels in 1958, which often reflect the time of childhood and early adolescence and are characterized by an almost photorealistic documentary accuracy in the unexcited description of everyday events. In 2009 Hyry received the Finlandia Prize for the novel Uuni, the most prestigious Finnish literary prize.

He was married to Maija Hyry.
