Kujula Kadphises was a ruler of the kingdom of Kushana , who ruled around AD 30–80. He can be described as the actual founder of the Kushana empire.

Kujula Kadphises is known from various sources. The Chinese records of Hou Hanshu are particularly valuable . These report that the ruler managed to unite the four tribes of the Yuezhi and to build an empire through conquests. He attacked the Parthians (which is more likely to mean the Indo-Parthian Kingdom ) and conquered the region around Kabul and the regions around Peshawar . He is said to have been 81 years old when he died. His successor was his son Vima Takto . Another son was Sadaskano , known from an inscription.

His coins mostly bear Greek legends, some of them are based on Roman models. Kujula Kadphises is the first ruler of the Kushana with the title of King of Kings .
