Kuk (Papua New Guinea)

Kuk is an archaeological site on the site of a former plantation in Papua New Guinea . It is located 12 km northeast of Mount Hagen in the Upper Wahgital, Western Highlands Province , at an altitude of 1550 m above sea ​​level . The plantation includes a peat swamp where one of the world's oldest irrigated gardens was found. Under the name Kuk Swamp , the area was from the 2008 UNESCO in the list of World Heritage added.

The 116 hectare archaeological site is located in the southeastern part of the former agricultural research station of Kuk Kuk Agricultural Research Station (originally Kuk Tea Research Station ), which was founded in 1969 and covered 280 hectares and was closed in the early 1990s.
