Kulmain Country Quartet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kulmainer Landquartett was a Bavarian folk music group .

The three brothers Georg, Siegfried and Willi Wins formed a vocal trio called Franconian Trio , which became known locally in the Tirschenreuth district , in their home town of Immenreuth as early as the mid-1950s . In the early 1960s, the considerably older singer Gert Froboes, who had previously released some records under the stage name Heinz Underberg , was accepted into the formation. Froboes was the main singer from now on, while the Wins brothers accompanied him instrumentally and vocally. Froboes succeeded in arranging a record contract with Odeon for the music group , now named Kulmainer Landquartett , which had already terminated the record contract with him as a solo artist. In 1961 and 1963, Odeon released two albums by the Kulmainer Landquartett . Until the end of the 1960s, the music group still mainly performed in Bavaria. With the sudden death of Froboes in 1968, the music group disbanded.
