The Kulmbacher spinning mill was founded in 1863 by citizens of the city of Kulmbach . Seven years later it was re-established as a stock corporation . Privy Councilor Dr. Fritz Hornschuch from Fürth bought the share capital in 1900. In the years from 1907 to 1920, the Mainleus location was expanded. In 1908 a branch was established in Mainleus , which existed until 2013. This branch was expanded as early as 1912. As more workers moved in, living space became scarce. The Kulmbacher spinning mill, under the direction of Privy Councilor Dr. Fritz Hornschuch, began with the construction of an approximately 3 hectare large residential colony for the workers, which is still called Hornschuchshausen today. By the beginning of the Second World War , a total of 51 houses for around 300 residents had been built. The ensemble still stands and is inhabited.

In 1972 the spinning , twisting and dyeing works of F. C. Bayerlein in Bayreuth and the Hohf & Zimmermann spinning mill in Marktschorgast were taken over . From 1974 to 1981 the plants in Baiersbronn , Marktschorgast and Bayreuth were closed. From 1986 the effect spinning and twisting mill in Mainleus was expanded. The main plant in Kulmbach was shut down in 1996. The buildings were converted into the first Kulmbach business park "fritz". After years of losses, the stock corporation was dissolved and continued as a GmbH in Mainleus as part of a management buy-out .
