Kultur & Gespenster is a German cultural magazine . Since 2006 it has been edited by Jan-Frederik Bandel, Gustav Mechlenburg, Nora Sdun and Christoph Steinegger. It emerged from the website "textem.de" operated by Gustav Mechlenburg and is published by Textem Verlag (which publishes essays, artist books and literary titles, among other things). “A network then developed from this.” The somewhat unclear profile corresponds to the organic development of the publication. All areas of culture, including popular culture (e.g. comics), are covered. Surprising connections between very different cultural areas are often discovered (or donated).

Culture & Ghosts appears irregular; So far (as of 2018) 19 issues have been published, each dedicated to a key topic (most recently: "Märchen", "Radio", "Ghostbusters", "SOS Fantômes", "Ding Ding Ding", "No Balance", "Medienzeit - Computer Games" "). The publication was funded in 2007 for four issues by the German Literature Fund. In 2010 the magazine received the silver award at the LeadAwards in the categories “Newcomer Magazine of the Year”, “Feature of the Year” and “Visual Leader of the Year” (Christoph Steinegger for the design of Kultur & Gespenster, among others ).
