Culture Ruhr GmbH
The culture Ruhr GmbH organizes the Ruhr Triennale . Kultur Ruhr GmbH was originally founded in 1998 as an instrument of the so-called "regional cultural policy" of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia for the Ruhr area within the limits of the municipal association of the Ruhr area (today Regional Association of Ruhr ).
In 2001, the old Kultur Ruhr GmbH was reorganized into the Kultur Ruhr GmbH , with the task of building and establishing an international art festival in the renovated rooms of the industrial legacy in the Ruhr area (including Jahrhunderthalle Bochum , Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord , Zweckel Gladbeck colliery , Zollverein colliery and coking plant ). Kultur Ruhr GmbH is characterized by the production and mediation of contemporary and interdisciplinary art in the entire cultural metropolis of the Ruhr.
Kultur Ruhr GmbH currently consists of four independent program pillars: The Ruhrtriennale, the ChorWerk Ruhr , the Tanzlandschaft Ruhr and Urban Arts Ruhr . As the fourth pillar of the program, Urbane Künste Ruhr was launched at the end of 2011, a cultural institution that realizes artistic projects in urban space as the successor to the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 .
A separate artistic director is appointed for each pillar of Kultur Ruhr GmbH every three years. In this way, each area has its own content that is also visible to the outside world. The Ruhrtriennale takes the largest share of the turnover of the GmbH and is the most important image carrier of the Kultur Ruhr GmbH.
Kultur Ruhr GmbH is based in Bochum . The managing directors are Stefanie Carp and Vera Battis-Reese. The shareholders of Kultur Ruhr GmbH are the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Ruhr Regional Association .
