from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cultural monuments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are structures, places or buildings that are under the protection of historical monuments by the Hong Kong Antiquities Authority ( Chinese  古物 古蹟 辦事處  /  古物 古迹 办事处 , English Antiquities and Monuments Office , formerly Antiquities and Monuments Authority ).

According to the Hong Kong Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance , the antiquities authority can, in coordination with the advisory committee and confirmation of the incumbent head of government, declare a structure, building or place a cultural monument via a notice in the official gazette . Currently (as of November 2018) there are 120 declared cultural monuments in Hong Kong, which range from archaeological finds from the Neolithic period to centuries-old Chinese structures from the Han , Song , Ming and Qing periods to colonial buildings from the 19th century.
