Kulturloge is the name for a concept of local non-profit aid organizations that give tickets to cultural events to those in need . Local culture lodge associations enable people, especially families with children, to participate in cultural and social life. The culture lodges have been active since 2010 and act according to the principles of "cautiously-dignified-sustainable". In Germany, cultural lodges are organized in the “Bundesverband Deutsche Kulturloge eV” and are active in cities or regions. They are therefore called, for example, Kulturloge Wuppertal, Kulturloge Dachau, Kulturloge Mittelweser or Kulturloge Mittlere Nahe.

The federal association supports the founding of local associations and provides them with the name Kulturloge , the logo graphics, print templates and the database for arranging tickets free of charge. The term "KULTURLOGE" is legally protected as a word mark .

history

Cities and counties across Germany can refer to a rich cultural offering. Since 2010 u. a. the culture lodges ensure that people with low incomes can also attend these events. In 2007, the Marburger Tafel had already distributed tickets for cultural events to its customers. The editorial staff of the Oberhessische Presse (OP) reported under the headline “Marburger Tafel also enables customers to participate in social life”: The article triggered a lively exchange, which led to the daily newspaper (OP) talking to the Hessian regional representative at the time Tafeln launched the Kulturloge project in 2009. The Kulturloge was founded in Marburg on February 9, 2010 - the name KULTURLOGE was coined by Astrid Wetzel. Hilde Rektorschek, who developed the concept and the principles, was elected chairwoman and is therefore the founder of the first nationwide cultural lodge. Together with many volunteers, she got the Kulturloge-Marburg eV on the right track. The Frankfurter Rundschau wrote on May 15, 2011: "The idea arose at the Marburger Tafel".

The funding of the Kulturlogen work is usually through contributions from members, sponsors and donors. As a privately organized initiative, the Kulturlogen do not receive any funding from the federal or state governments, but sometimes from municipalities. For reasons of equity, the tax administration will not object to the waiver of sales taxation for charitable purposes when handing over unsold tickets for cultural events free of charge . The prerequisite for this is that a donation receipt for donation purposes is not issued.

concept

In the theater, cinema, sport or at concerts, numerous seats often remain empty. These unsold tickets are made available by organizers to the culture boxes free of charge. These are usually card exemptions because the organizers and artists themselves want people with little money to enjoy their artistic performances.

In a personal telephone conversation, volunteers provide these cards free of charge to people with low incomes who register through social institutions. An appreciative type of communication puts less affluent people, the so-called “cultural guests”, and their interests at the center. The cultural guests are invited. If you have the time and inclination, 2 cards are always deposited in the name of the guests at the box office. Families are given several cards to experience culture together.

Culture for everyone

Many older people, young families and single parents are interested in the cultural education of their children and grandchildren and can go out with them. In the meantime, the children of the cultural guests have the opportunity to take part in theater sponsorship projects, art courses and workshops. You will be integrated into the culture. Because if you are not introduced to culture at a young age, there is a high probability that you will not find access as an adult. Cultural guests are of course also people with mental or physical disabilities. Visits to the events are organized in very close cooperation with their residential groups and social partners. In rural areas, people who are no longer mobile are connected to the cultural lodges.

Social partners

Registering as a “cultural guest” is deliberately not intended at the cultural lodges. Social institutions are consciously committed to ensuring that the registrations of cultural guests are unbureaucratic, cautious and respectful. They take care of the registration so that people with little money do not have to appear as supplicants at the cultural lodges. Through this registration, interested people who were not connected to social institutions can get to know these institutions and then use their offers. The institutions are in constant dialogue with the cultural lodges about registrations and feedback from cultural guests.

organizer

The cultural organizers cooperate with the cultural lodges. Ticket contingents are made available to the cultural guests in good time and reservations at the box office in the name of the cultural guest are a matter of course. It's a classic win-win situation for everyone involved, the cultural organizers fill empty spaces, artists don't have to play in front of half-empty houses and cultural guests can enjoy art and culture. The employees of the organizers stand for sensitive integration of people into the culture.

Organizations

The Federal Association of German Cultural Lodge was founded in April 2012. Member culture boxes act according to the principles of "cautious, dignified and sustainable". Together with the social partners, the organizers, the artists and the volunteers, they campaign for the human right to culture. Cultural lodges enable people with low incomes to participate in cultural and social life and thus make a contribution to social coexistence. The seat of the federal association is in Marburg. In accordance with the principles of the federal association, the facilities of the cultural lodges are non-denominational, are not affiliated with any party, do not compete with one another and enable many people with low incomes to participate in social and cultural life. Every two years there are federal culture lodge meetings as a general meeting of all regional culture lodge associations. In addition, experiences can be exchanged here, questions of principle can be discussed and contacts with sponsors and service providers can be established.

Trivia

For some time now, the concept of the Kulturloge has developed into a successful Kulturloge movement nationwide. Similar initiatives are called KulturPforte, KulturListe, KulturParkett, KulturDrehscheibe, KulturLeben, KulturWerk, KulturRaum, KulturTafel, KulturWunsch, Kulturticket, Kultür, Kukuk, be there, Precious or Culture: Live. You work according to different concepts: For example, showing your ID at the box office. If, in the end, there are still tickets left, you have to pay extra. Needs checks take place regularly. Anyone who cannot collect tickets will be removed from the mailing list. Brokerage of cards is only possible via the Internet and by email, whoever answers first receives cards.
