The tape factory

The Bandfabrik is a cultural center in Wuppertal and, as a building, is one of the most important factory and administrative buildings in the city.

It is located in one of many former ribbon knitting mills in Wuppertal. The former Kettler band factory was rebuilt in the late 1990s. It is located on the outskirts between Langerfeld and Schwelm .

The initiator of the cultural center was the jazz musician and former prison pastor Erhard Ufermann.

The institution is supported by the Kultur am Rand association , which is supported by citizens, entrepreneurs and artists in the region. He sets himself three goals:

  • Bringing art and culture back to where people live and work.
  • To offer people and groups who are socially marginalized a forum that enables and promotes creative, artistic and innovative forms of expression and encounters.
  • to initiate an exchange of regional artists with nationally or internationally renowned artists.
