Customer display

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A customer display is an electronic device that enables the consumer to track his purchases at a cash register . The customer display serves the security of the customer as well as the security of the sales staff.

history

Old, mechanical cash registers had numbers on both sides that displayed the amounts entered. With the introduction of electronics , these technically complex and noisy cash registers disappeared more and more. The miniaturization of cash registers meant that most of the information on the electronic displays could hardly be seen by the customer. For this reason, the industry has designed the customer display as a separate device that is placed in the immediate field of vision of the customer.

Technologies

To ensure good legibility, there are different versions of customer displays. Flourescent technology is often used because the information on these displays is very clear and recognizable under all lighting conditions. The LCD technology with back-lit display is often used. Legibility and comprehensibility can only be optimized in harmony with the cash register software .

Executions

There are cash register displays in all sizes and shapes. One- or two-line displays promote readability because the characters can be displayed relatively large. Multi-line displays offer more information, but are less legible.

Applications

Large department stores usually have their own cash register systems in which the customer display plays an essential role. The displays are used in all areas of trade and convey a form of professional checkout.
