history

Oberstein Castle was built in 1320 and was first mentioned in a document in 1330 as "the house above the Haus zum Steine ", which meant the old Bosselstein Castle . Property disputes between the Lords of Oberstein and their relatives, the Lords of Daun-Oberstein, over the Bosselstein Castle, led to the building by the Daun-Obersteiners. The complex was already a trier fiefdom in 1330 . The castle was the permanent residence of the Counts of Daun-Oberstein, who emerged from the Lords of Oberstein , and was then the administrative seat. 1697, in the wake of Reunionskriege , the four were French troops Rondelle by blowing looped and 1855, the castle was destroyed by fire. The facility has been under constant restoration since 1981.

investment

The palace complex consisted of four corner towers, a triangular core and a gatehouse with a late Gothic bay window. The gatehouse was originally a two-story defensive pulpit which was also secured by a fall shaft. The oldest part is a trapezoidal building with a corner tour . Further residential buildings from different construction periods are grouped around this structure. The rooms, which have been restored since 1981, are now used for festive occasions.
