Kunigunde Jakobäa of the Palatinate

Kunigunde Jakobäa von der Pfalz (born October 9, 1556 in Simmern , † January 26, 1586 in Dillenburg ) was a Countess Palatine of Simmern and Princess of the Palatinate and, by marriage, Countess of Nassau-Dillenburg .

Life

Kunigunde Jakobäa was a daughter of Elector Friedrich III. von der Pfalz (1515–1576) from his marriage to Marie (1519–1567), daughter of Margrave Casimir von Brandenburg-Kulmbach .

She married Count Johann VI on September 13, 1580 in Dillenburg . von Nassau-Dillenburg (1536–1606). The marriage not only signified a political rapprochement between Nassau-Dillenburg and the reformed Electoral Palatinate, but was also the decisive factor for Johann's acceptance of the Calvinist creed.

Kunigunde Jakobäa was buried in the Evangelical City Church in Dillenburg .
